South Africa Weather
South Africa is located in the southern hemisphere, as such, the seasons are the reverse of those in the northern hemisphere. Spring runs from September to October and is a good time to visit. These months are generally characterized by sunny and calm weather conditions. Summer is from November to February and during this time, much of South Africa is hot, often with afternoon showers that clear quickly. Autumn is from March to April and is usually warm rather than hot. There is little rainfall and the season gets cooler as it progresses. Winter is from May to August and conditions vary depending on the region. Higher areas of the interior plateau experience dry, sunny and crisp days with cold nights, the KwaZulu Natal Coast, the Lowveld, Mpumalanga and Limpopo provinces enjoy warm days with little rain. During winter, the Western Cape experiences its rainy season while mountain regions can receive snow.
