Winter (November to April) offers cooler weather that’s ideal for sightseeing and outdoor activities. Summer (May to October) is very hot, but it comes with lower hotel rates and great indoor attractions.

Best Time To Visit
While the United Arab Emirates is a year-round destination, timing matters if you want to make the most of your trip.
“For many, the best time to visit is during the cooler season from November to March,” says Destination Specialist Jodi Hartnell.
During this period, average daytime highs hover in the mid-20s Celsius, creating ideal conditions for sightseeing, desert adventures, and outdoor dining. This is the prime season for strolling through souks or exploring coastal towns. Desert resorts are also popular during these months, when daytime temperatures are comfortable for activities like dune bashing and camel rides. Winter nights in the desert can turn surprisingly cool, so a light jacket is a smart addition to your suitcase.
From April to October, the UAE enters its hot season. “Temperatures commonly reach 50 degrees Celsius or higher, and even in Dubai the humidity can make them dangerous,” says Hartnell. “This is why even bus shelters are air-conditioned, and very few people are actually outside during the daylight hours.”
While less suited to extended outdoor exploring, summer does come with perks: lower hotel rates, fewer crowds, and a focus on the UAE’s seemingly endless indoor attractions, including vast shopping malls, world-class museums, and luxury spas.

What do the experts say?
For me, the best months are November to April. Anything in between that is too unbearably hot. Temperatures commonly reaching 50 degrees and higher are so unpleasant and even in Dubai, the little bit of humidity can make them dangerous. This is why even bus shelters on the streets are air conditioned, and very few people are actually outside during the daylight hours.
Directly opposite of Dubai, on the eastern Golf of Oman, in the Emirate of Sharjah, lies Khor Fakkan. This beautiful little gem has mountains, clear blue water with white sand beaches and coral reefs. Shark Island, right off the Coast of Khor Fakkan, has some of the best snorkeling in the UAE
For that Instagram shot, nothing beats the symbol for the Emirates that is the Burj al Arab hotel in Dubai. This is generally one of the most asked after spots, and where people can get the best photos. In reality, from the ground it is lovely, however, photos from the air on a helicopter pass show just how amazing this structure is and the effort that went into the world's only 7 Star hotel.
I always recommend that people go to the Camel races on Fridays, at Al Mormoon Race Track. Over the start line, there is a overhead walkway where you can watch the camels line up for their heats. As there is no gambling in the UAE, here the winners are the camels rather than the owners, and the camels are awarded the gifts.
Eid Al-Fitr or Eid Al-Adha are celebrated with large gatherings and public events. These are always accompanied by smiling, happy people with loads of new foods to try and sample. As the UAE has over 150 varieties of dates, and it seems that every single kind is brought out to celebrations and they are delicious!!

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best time to visit Dubai?
How many days should I spend in the UAE?
Four to seven days are ideal for exploring Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and the desert. A shorter two- to three-day stopover works well for seeing the highlights.
Do I need a visa for Dubai?
Many nationalities, including U.S., Canadian, and most EU citizens, enjoy visa-free entry, but check the requirements before travelling.
Is Dubai safe for tourists?
Yes, the UAE is one of the safest destinations in the world, with very low crime rates. Just follow cultural norms and laws, which are stricter than other countries.
What is the currency in the UAE?
The local currency is the UAE dirham (AED).
Can I drink alcohol in Dubai?
Yes, but only in licensed hotels, bars, and restaurants. Drinking in public is prohibited.
What is the dress code in the UAE?
It’s strongly recommended to dress modestly (no tight-fitting or revealing clothing) when in public areas, such as souks and malls, and at religious sites to show respect for the local culture. It’s fine to wear Western clothing at hotels, resorts, and beach clubs.
What are the must-see attractions in Dubai and Abu Dhabi?
In Dubai, don’t miss the Burj Khalifa, Ain Dubai, Dubai Mall, and Museum of the Future. In Abu Dhabi, highlights include the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, the Louvre Abu Dhabi, SeaWorld Yas Island, and Ferrari World.
Can I visit the desert from Dubai?
Yes. Desert safaris featuring dune buggy rides and overnight stays in luxury desert resorts can be easily arranged from Dubai. If you don't wish to stay overnight, there is also the option to enjoy an exclusive dining experience amid the dunes. The drive from the Dubai city centre to the Arabian Desert takes around an hour.
How do I get around the UAE?
Taxis and ride-shares are the easiest way to get around cities. For inter-emirate travel, private transfers or guided tours are the most convenient method of transportation.
What cultural experiences can I have in the UAE?
Visit traditional souks, camp out (in a luxury resort) in the desert, try Emirati cuisine, or join celebrations during Eid al-Fitr.
Can I combine a UAE trip with Oman?
Yes. Many itineraries include both destinations. Muscat is a one-hour flight from Dubai, making it a popular add-on. Other great combos include the UAE with Saudi Arabia, the Maldives, or the Seychelles.
