Romania has a temperate climate that experiences four distinct seasons. Spring runs from March to May and is characterized by cool mornings and nights, but enjoys warm days. Summer in Romania is from late May until mid-September. July and August tend to be the hottest months, particularly in the lowlands of southern and eastern Romania. Autumn is from mid-September to November and this time of year is usually dry and cool. Finally, winter is from November to February and can be quite cold. This is especially true of the mountains, which can get a lot of snow.
