Best Time To Visit

Fiji’s tropical climate makes it a year-round destination, but the best time to visit depends on the type of experience you're seeking.

Whether you're looking for sunshine and outdoor adventures or a quieter, more affordable escape, each season has something unique to offer.

The dry season (from May to October) is considered the best time to visit Fiji, thanks to bountiful sunshine and pristine weather conditions. During these months, you’ll enjoy low humidity and minimal rainfall, too, which are perfect for outdoor pursuit, like snorkelling, diving, sailing, or just lounging on the beach. It’s also the ideal for hiking and exploring the islands’ natural beauty.

However, this is also Fiji’s peak travel season, especially during school holidays in July and September, so expect larger crowds and higher prices on accommodations and flights. Booking early is recommended if you’re travelling during this time.

Fiji’s wet season runs from November to April, bringing warmer temperatures and occasional tropical showers or storms. But don’t let the rain put you off. It often comes in short bursts, leaving behind colourful rainbows and plenty of sunshine.

This season sees fewer tourists and lower prices, making it a great choice for budget-conscious travellers or those seeking a more relaxed experience. The islands are also at their most photogenic with lush green rainforests and waterfalls in full glory.

For the best deals, aim to travel in late January through February, after the holiday rush. You’ll experience peaceful beaches, great savings, and the chance to explore Fiji’s cultural side without the crowds.

Whether you choose the dry or wet season, Fiji delivers unforgettable experiences all year long. As Destination Specialist Jaclyn Turner recalls: “Everywhere I went in Fiji I was greeted like a long lost friend. Everyone is so friendly and they make you feel like family. When leaving our resort they sang a beautiful goodbye song. I saw many guests leave with tears in their eyes.”

Let us help you choose the perfect time for your Fiji escape.

For first-time visitors, I suggest splitting their stay to experience a few nights at a resort along the Coral Coast, where they could experience a visit to a local village, then end their trip at one of the islands in the Mamanucas to experience some different beaches and activities. For returning visitors, I recommend exploring a different group of islands, such as heading to one of the Northern Islands, which is a short flight from Nadi.

Definitely. With more than 300 islands, Fiji is made for island-hopping. Travel by boat, seaplane, helicopter, or ferry to explore different regions like the Mamanucas, Yasawas, and Taveuni. Yes. Fiji is a fantastic family destination. Many resorts are geared towards families, offering kids’ clubs, cultural activities, water sports, and dining suitable for all ages. Plus, Fijians absolutely adore children and will feel welcome wherever your family goes.

It’s no wonder why Fiji is often called the “Soft Coral Capital of the World.” It boasts numerous, incredible dive spots, including the Great Astrolabe Reef (near Kadavu), Rainbow Reef (between Vanua Levu and Taveuni), and the Bligh Waters. You’ll see everything from reef sharks to technicolour coral gardens.

The Yasawa Islands are reachable via ferry, seaplane, or small aircraft from Nadi. The most popular option is the Yasawa Flyer, a high-speed catamaran that stops at various resorts along the way. It’s scenic, easy, and part of the adventure.
